Description
The CASA AGAVE® Long Handle Dish Brush helps you replace plastic dish brushes in the kitchen!
This dish brush has a long bamboo handle for easy grip and stiff plant fiber bristles to scrub dishes, pots, and pans effectively, even in hard-to-reach places.
Replaces: Plastic dish brushes. Designed for scrubbing tough stuck-on food and heavy stains, including for cast iron pans. The brush can also be used gently on non-stick cookware. The long handle provides extra leverage for tough cleaning jobs.
Longevity: Each brush can be used for 1-6 months. Avoid leaving the wood parts soaking in water, as the wood will absorb water and may swell or crack. Hang the brush by its handle or place it in a dry spot after use.
To keep the brush hygienic, occasionally dip the bristles in vinegar to help kill bacteria. The Moso bamboo handle is naturally antibacterial, but the vinegar will provide added protection. Replace the brush if you see any signs of mold growth.
Storage and Care: To minimize cracking, always keep the wooden handle dry and do not soak or submerge it in water. Oiling the wood can help reduce the chance of cracking, especially if the brush is frequently exposed to water.
Using with the DISH BLOCK®: When using the DISH BLOCK®, note that a soft sponge is ideal for most dishes to preserve the block’s longevity. Hard bristle brushes may wear down the DISH BLOCK® faster than a sponge and could create a hole in the center of the block over time.
Why it matters: Plastic-bristle dish brushes shed microplastics, which are tiny plastic particles that cannot be completely filtered out by sewage treatment systems. These microplastics contribute to pollution, including the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch,” and are ingested by marine life, eventually entering the food chain and even our water supply. By choosing a sustainable option, you can help reduce plastic waste and protect the environment.
Sustainability: The long handle is made from Moso bamboo, a durable and sustainable material often used for building and culinary tools. The plant fiber bristles are made from agave fiber mixed with palmyra fiber, providing a strong and eco-friendly alternative to plastic. The handle is lightly coated with non-toxic wood coating to reduce cracking and splitting. FSC certified by TÜV SÜD Czech, Prague.
Agave Fiber: CASA AGAVE® agave fiber bristles are grown, harvested, sun-dried, and processed in Mexico using traditional techniques to ensure a high-quality and durable natural fiber.
Materials used: Bamboo grown without pesticides. Agave fiber or palmyra fiber bristles. Metal staples to hold the bristles. The handle is sealed with a water-based polyurethane (a non-plastic synthetic material similar to rubber) varnish.
